Arrests of Alledged INLA Mambers
The comrades of the International Republican Socialist Network demand the release of these members of the Irish Republican Socialist Movement.
Neil Myles is a republican socialist activist of long standing, with roots extending back to Saor Eire, while Eddie McGarrigle was the primary force in creating the IRSM's ex-prisoners of war organization, Teach na Failte, and led the struggle for justice for
Dessie O Hare.
With the tenth anniversary of the Irish National Liberation Army's cease fire approaching in August of this year, it is clear that these senseless arrests represent nothing more than a continuation of the long history of harassment and repression of republican socialist activists by the 26-county statelet. If such harassment is going to continue, as the previous arrests in Waterford and these new arrests of activists from Cork and Strabane suggests, Irish republican socialists must reconsider the wisdom of observing a cease fire any longer. Clearly, the Free State government has not ended its war against the Irish Republican Socialist Movement and the IRSM must have the right to defend itself without prohibition of whatever tactics are most appropriate to that task.
